Last night on AEW Dynamite, Cody Rhodes was defeated handily by the debuting Malakai Black. Following the match, Rhodes selling several injuries, attempted to retire in the ring to close the show but was stopped by Black as he smashed a crutch over his back.
If you’re still wondering why last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite ended in that fashion, the answer could come in the form of a taping schedule for one of Cody Rhodes’ outside projects. Similar to last year when Brodie Lee wiped out Rhodes for the TNT Championship, it’s once again time for him to film a new season of the TBS series Go Big Show.
According to 13WMAZ, Cody Rhodes will rejoin Jennifer Nettles and Rosario Dawson as part of the judging panel. DJ Khaled will join the trio, who will replace Snoop Dogg on the panel this season. The show is scheduled to film at the Macon Colosseum in Georgia.
With film crews already shooting scenes for the second season, the need for Cody Rhodes and company onset is most likely imminent. While it’s unknown how much time Rhodes will be missing from AEW television, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that he will once again miss AEW’s All Out pay-per-view for the second year in a row.
