As Peacemaker, John Cena is part of the star-studded cast of”The Suicide Squad“, and the former WWE Champion is hopeful that it won’t be his last venture into the world of superhero movies.
In an interview with ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis, Cena made it clear that he’d like to share the screen with Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, who will bring Black Adam to life in a movie titled after the the popular DC character. Cena stated that he is “ready, willing, and able” for a potential on-screen clash with the man he once faced at two WrestleManias in a row.
“[I’m] ready, willing, and able,” said Cena. “And answering the phone whenever it rings. I’m good. I think that the excitement is starting to build with fans, whether you talk about the conversation of ‘Fast’, or you talk about now the DC Universe. I don’t want to say we’re on a crash course and it’s inevitable. I want to, because I’m a fan. But we’ll see. We’ll see what happens. Tell me what he says.”
Cena will reprise his role as Peacemaker in a spinoff series, which is slated for a January 2022 release.
Rumors about The Rock’s return to the ring have been increasingly circulating in recent weeks, but in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Johnson shot them down. When asked, Johnson said “there’s nothing” to the speculation. But in the same clip Entertainment Tonight shared, Cena expressed his hope that The Rock will come back to WWE at some point.
“For him to be gracious enough to return to WWE…that is great for WWE, and I think it is great for The Rock,” said Cena. “As a fan of WWE, I really hope returns.”
