With the reports this week of both CM Punk and Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) potentially heading to All Elite Wrestling, it sounds like WWE is second-guessing the release of former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, there is a renewed interest within WWE right now to bring Braun Strowman back into the fold to keep him away from AEW.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone as Braun Strowman was a home-grown WWE talent. Someone who arguably could have been an even bigger star in the company if creative hadn’t dropped the ball on his storylines several times in the last few years.
Following Meltzer’s report, Strowman took to social media and tweeted out an image of two of his matches on WWE’s Youtube channel doing millions of views stating:
“Yup I don’t move the needle!!!! #WhereIGoEyesFollow #GetOnMyLevel,” Braun Strowman tweeted sarcastically.
It was reported several weeks ago that Strowman’s release occurred due to the amount of money he was making on his current contract. There is a chance if WWE and Strowman work out an agreement to return to the company, it could be under a new deal for less money, but that is obviously not confirmed.
But if Vince McMahon wants to bring The Monster Among Men back to RAW or SmackDown, he’s running out of time to do so, as his 90-day non-compete clause will expire at the end of August. At that point, Strowman is free and clear to sign anywhere he wants.
