For several years, a match between NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neil, also known as Shaq, and Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, has been a dream bout between two giants. The two big men hinted at this clash at WWE WrestleMania 32, where they had a heated confrontation in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
In a recent interview with Pop Culture, Shaq made it clear that he still wants to face Wight, and he teased that the match could happen some day soon.
“I hear Paul Wight’s still talking trash, so I’m going to work out really hard this summer, and maybe we could do something very, very soon,” said Shaq.
The basketball legend made it clear that arrnging the bout now should be doable now, though “red tape” got in the way last time.
“Last time it was due out of bureaucracy and red tape, now there is no red tape,” said O’Neal. “So, I’m going to go on because I’m still kind of sore from the table, so I’m going to go for it this summer, pump these muscles up here. I’ll be waiting for you, Mr. Paul.”
The last time Shaq appeared on AEW progrmaming, he went crashing through a table during a mixed tag team match in which he and Jade Cargill defeated Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. In the interview, he made it clear that he had a good time.
“There’ll be no broken bones [and] it was actually fun,” said Shaq.
