What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Maybe not.
WWE’s Chief Brand Officer, Stephanie McMahon recently appeared on The Arash Markazi Show and spoke about SummerSlam’s move to a Saturday night in Las Vegas this year, as well as the possibility that this move might be recurring in the future. McMahon explained that the location helped determine the day it fell on, as Saturday night in Las Vegas is the biggest night of the week.
“I think in terms of the future, we’ll see based on performance, but Saturday night is the night in Vegas, so we always want to make sure that we’re as fan-friendly as we can possibly be. Of course, we want to maximize the amount of people we bring in, the amount of people who can watch,” McMahon said. “So location is really what drove the ‘day’ part in terms of Saturday night in Vegas.”
In the same interview, McMahon also granted advice to girls that want to be future wrestlers or executives, telling them to always believe in themselves.
“I think representation is so important no matter what it is. To know that something is possible you have to be able to see it for the large majority of folks, and I have three daughters myself…I want them to know, and every girl to know, they can do anything,” McMahon said. “They can be and do anything they want to be and do, but it requires a lot of hard work. It requires a lot of grit. You have to never give up on yourself. You have to believe in yourself and take ‘no’ for an answer.”
WWE’s annual SummerSlam pay-per-view is slated for August 21st, 2021 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
