“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair remains one of the most iconic characters in wrestling history.
Though his in-ring days are behind him, Flair is still renowned for his wrestling career and known for the party-heavy lifestyle he enjoyed throughout his career.
In a recent episode of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T explained why Flair is still “the man.” The WWE Hall of Famer noted how Flair’s mind has aged well, and he expressed his admiration for Flair’s openness about his wild lifestyle back in the day.
“He’s still got just as much energy, he’s still just as quick wit, I mean I can sit down and have a conversation with Ric Flair, and he’s definitely coherent, you know, maybe even more so than I am,” said Booker T. “I’m serious, it’s just amazing, just to see how intellectual he still is at this stage of the game. I admire the dude, bro. I really do because to be a guy who has definitely, [he] ain’t shy about saying how hard he rode, and still to be able to talk about it, man, it’s amazing, it really is.
“You remember I always say, you gotta know to change levels, you gotta know how to go with the times. Ric Flair definitely has been one of those guys who have been able to keep up and understand what the next generation is doing and then say , ‘Hey man, let me see if I can get a piece of the action.'”
Later in the clip, Booker T commented on Flair’s “drip”, as co-host Brad Gilmore called it when he pulled up a picture of Flair wearing a Rolex and an Apple Watch on the same wrist. The former King of the Ring winner noted how this picture encapsulates the fact that “The Nature Boy” is still going on.
“You know what they used to say about Ric Flair back in the day, they’d say that’s the real boy there,'” said Flair. “And he’s still that dude, man. Just look at that photo there. He got the jacket playing real hard, you know what I mean? He’s still intact. He got the diamond ring on, the diamond bracelet.
“No matter what happens, a bomb could drop, he’s still gonna be Ric Flair. And that’s the beauty of putting in the work and coming out on the other side and being able to enjoy a little bit of the fruits of the labor….No one will ever be able to say that “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair did not enjoy this life to the fullest.”
