Triple H says WWE’s new show on A&E gives fans a chance to look back at the past and connect with it on a new level.
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were guests on Good Morning America to promote the premiere of “WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures” on A&E. Speaking about the appeal of the show, Triple H said he’s a huge history buff, and said the show is a way for fans to connect with wrestling history through nostalgia.
“For me, I’m a big history buff on anything. I’m a big believer about you’ve got to know where you’ve been to know where you’re going. So to me, as the business has evolved over the years, things—I’m sure much like in your career—things that you didn’t really think about… it was just a Tuesday,” Triple H explained, “and you took off your uniform and you just put it wherever and didn’t think about it. It’s iconic to somebody else. It’s history, it’s huge and it needs to have a place.”
“A lot of our Superstars over the years, they’ve auctioned things off for charity, they’ve gone on their way, and we’re out to try and find them now so that fans can go back—WWE makes you feel a certain way. It’s like music, it takes you back to a certain time in your life and it just connects with you on an emotional level. For fans to be able to go back and find that, whatever it is that takes you back to that time in your life where something special was happening for you, it’s just so meaningful,” Triple H explained, “and I think that the stories they hear along the way on this show, the fans that they meet like them, it’s an incredible journey on every piece of memorabilia that we find.”
The first episode of “WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures” will premiere on A&E on Sunday, April 18 at 10 pm EST, following the premiere of the Stone Cold Steve Austin episode of “Biography” at 8 p.m. EST.
