Cesaro recently named Seth Rollins as one of one his dream opponents, and it looks like that fantasy will soon become a reality.
“The Pro Wrestling Purist” has been feuding with Rollins on WWE Friday Night SmackDown, and the two stars are on a collision course that could culminate at WrestleMania 37.
In an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Cesaro explained why he’s already quite excited about this possibility, especially if it allows him to break his record for the longest swing at the show.
“That’s definitely something that’s on the bucket list as they may say,” said Cesaro. “Me and Seth Rollins? Oh yeah! Oh yeah, give me that.
“We can have an awesome spectacle and an awesome wrestling match and a fun story leading into it – that whole prospect to me is just so exciting.”
Because Cesaro is a 40-year-old WWE Superstar, some fans have argued that his days as a main eventer might be behind him. Older wrestlers typically don’t get pushed to the upper levels of the card in Vince McMahon’s company. But Cesaro stated that he’s been able to prove himself to the chairman, and this trust is finally paying off.
“You build equity,” said Cesaro. “You have to show you’re reliable, you can handle whatever gets thrown at you and you slowly get more and more chances.
“And it’s the same thing with everything. You work on it and eventually, you get there. I believe that I’ll get there, I believe we will get there and it will be awesome when it happens.”
It’s been a long time coming, but it finally seems like Cesaro is getting there. A potential WrestleMania 37 showdown with Rollins would arguably be the biggest match of Cesaro’s WWE career, and it’d be the perfect time for him to showcase his talent to the entire WWE Universe.
