WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results (2/26/21)

Baron Corbin & Sami Zayn vs. The Street Profits

Zayn kicks off the match against Montez Ford. The husband of Belair impresses with his athleticism as WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler watch backstage. Angelo Dawkins tags in and so does Corbin. We see Zayn’s documentary crew filming as he calls out that the referee isn’t enforcing the rules. However, Corbin yells at the crew to move as they get in his way of sliding into the ring and we go to commercial break.

Corbin is in control against Ford as we return and Zayn is tagged in. However, Dawkins becomes the legal man and he hits a corkscrew flying elbow and nearly pins Zayn. Corbin interferes and eats a dropkick for his trouble. However, Zayn uses the distraction to hit a DDT. Miscommunication between Corbin and the film crew leaves a distracted Zayn open for a neckbreaker and then Montez Ford hits a huge splash for the win.

Daniel Bryan gives an interview backstage. He says his chances are “pretty damn good” of becoming champion before WrestleMania and that he has a better chance of beating Reigns than Edge does. Edge then appears and says if that does happen then he’d face Bryan at WrestleMania. After a fun exchange, Bryan leaves to prepare for his match later.

Seth Rollins promo

“Burn it down!” Seth Rollins comes out for his entrance and we immediately go to commercial break. A shirtless Cesaro wearing blue jeans interrupts Rollins, who is dressed all in white. Rollins says he never said Cesaro was a loser, just a loser in the situation he was in. He tells Cesaro to stay in the center ring like the star that he is and that he’ll make it up to him.

Rollins talks up Cesaro and then asks him why he always seems to come up short. “What is it that you are missing? I will tell you what it is because I have it. It’s called killer instinct. I have it and I can give it to you,” says Rollins. “I came back to SmackDown to lead it to the future, and I will start, if you will let me, by leading you.”

Cesaro is asked to embrace the vision, but he swings Rollins instead. Corey Graves has the line of the night by saying that Rollins is probably seeing triple and that you can’t embrace three visions. Cesaro follows up with a huge uppercut and then leaves.

It’s now time for the main event of SmackDown.

Daniel Bryan vs. Jey Uso – Bryan earns a title shot at Fastlane if he beats Uso

Bryan controls the match early and is taking it to Reigns’ lackey. “D-Bry” lands his signature kicks in the corner and then hits a hurricanrana from the ropes. Bryan attempts to dive outside onto Uso, but he counters with a superkick. Uso then slams Bryan’s knee on the announce table and then the steel post. We’re left wondering if Bryan can beat the 10 count as the commercial break arrives.

Bryan is shown clutching his injured knee inside the ring. He almost locks in the Yes Lock, but Uso powers out by punching his opponent’s knee. Bryan gets a second wind, and lands a running knee to the outside. He attempts to get to the top rope and then misses. Bryan’s knee buckles and Uso then dropkicks the injury. Jey then locks in a half-crab on the knee and this is a great main event.

“D-Bry” rolls to his back and kicks Uso to get out of the hold. Bryan hits a big kick to Uso’s head for a two count. Bryan does the Yes! chant and then runs straight into an Uso chop block taking out his knee. Jey is in control and goes to the top rope. However, Bryan pushes him off and climbs up the ropes himself. They’re both standing on top and Bryan hits a butterfly superplex and then rolls into the Yes Lock. Uso manages to get to the rope and rolls out of the ring after the submission is broken up. He then manages to throw Bryan into the steps. Uso then holds Bryan and purposefully ends the match in a double countout.

Daniel Bryan draws Jey Uso

The match is over, but Bryan locks in a Yes Lock and Reigns comes out to attack Bryan. Roman hits a huge spear and then locks in the guillotine as the show ends.
