Marty Scurll Backstage At Recent TV Tapings; Reason For His Appearance Revealed

“The Villain” is returning to New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Per a Fightful report earlier today, Marty Scurll has been backstage at recent New Japan Pro-Wrestling Strong tapings. Now we have more information on why he was there from Fanbyte, which says Scurll will be an on-screen performer. According to the report, Scurll got involved in a post-match angle with Rocky Romero during the Jan. 22, 2021, tapings. With his first feud already lined up, it appears that Scurll will be a regular at the promotion going forward.

This marks the first wrestling appearance for Scurll since February of last year. Ring of Honor had temporarily ceased operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Scurll was later involved in a Speaking Out scandal that saw him eventually mutually exit ways with the company after an investigation was conducted. Scurll would admit to having sex with a 16-year-old girl, which as he notes is legal in the UK, but that it was consensual and he wasn’t aware of her age until afterward.
