It’s better to ask forgiveness than permission—an old proverb, and something Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers might have taken into consideration with their recent actions in AEW and IMPACT Wrestling.
Rocky Romero was a recent guest on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast and said Omega and the Good Brothers didn’t get permission to wear Bullet Club shirts on their respective shows. The wrestling world is still buzzing about the possibilities that have been opened by KENTA’s appearance on AEW Dynamite last week, but as far as “Bullet Club” appearing outside of New Japan? Romero says it was a little strange, but it all worked out as far as he’s concerned.
“They did not get the okay to do that. It was a little strange for a second, I think it’s okay now, you know, but it was kind of out of left field and I think everybody was just a little taken aback for a second. But I mean either way, I’m sure it’s good for Bullet Club t-shirt sales so it all worked out in the end.
Romero also commented on NJPW Strong, noting that the goal of the show is to keep building for the future, but it also presents a unique opportunity for intriguing matchups without too many strings attached.
“New Japan Strong, I mean, 100 % is to find the next generation…All those guys, that actually came in pre-pandemic and trained with Shibata, either by doing a camp or doing whatever, like a tryout, then either Shibata picked them personally, or maybe like I saw them and I liked what they did. We brought them to have this opportunity on New Japan Strong and they’ve become mainstays.”
“If you would have told me a year ago that we would be having this mega title match with the IWGP US title match on February 26 with Moxley and KENTA on Strong, I wouldn’t have believed it, you know, because I figured that was definitely gonna happen in Japan but I’m happy that it’s happening on Strong because it’s gonna bring so many more eyes to it and I think it’s gonna be cool. And it’s gonna be this place where all these different wrestlers from all these different companies can come and wrestle on this one show without too many political barriers.”
