With his appearance on RAW, Goldberg appeared to step into the main event title picture quicker than what it takes for “Da Man” to dominate a match.
According to Dave Meltzer on his most recent Wrestling Observer Radio, the decision to put the WWE Hall Of Famer in the Royal Rumble main event against WWE Champion Drew McIntyre came to fruition this past Saturday.
Goldberg showed up at the end of last night’s RAW to confront the champion after Drew successfully defended the Championship against Keith Lee. It being Legends Night on the red brand, Goldberg told Drew that he didn’t show respect to legends before shoving the Scot down to close the show.
WWE had a marquee match lined up for Goldberg last April for WrestleMania 36 against Roman Reigns, but Reigns who was the challenger at the time made the decision to be home with his family as the global pandemic turned heel on the world. There’s been teases for a showdown between Bill and Roman here at some point, but the course of Goldberg’s “Road To WrestleMania” in WWE looks to either be re-routed or on a detour.
