Former wrestler Brett DiBiase is admitting to defrauding Mississippi’s welfare agency today as he’s involved in an embezzlement case in which the state’s auditor is calling the largest in Mississippi history.
Anna Wolfe of Mississippi Today reported the developing story and shared that DiBiase, son of Ted DiBiase, was one of six individuals who plead guilty to making fraudulent statements, a crime which carries a maximum of five years in prison and a fine that could be as high as $10,000. Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens however did state that it’s possible DiBiase will face zero jail time for the plea.

Now DiBiase will serve as a witness to the larger investigation pertaining to the embezzlement of the state’s money and an additional conspiracy charge will be dropped.
DiBiase, along with those five other individuals was arrested back in February for the misappropriation of millions of taxpayer dollars. For his job as a senior officer in Mississippi Department of Human Services, Brett received $48,000 to inform, update and educate in identifying opioid abuse and to teach 24 training sessions on opioids, but they never occurred. Brett did not complete the training and now admits that he kept the money.
Today in court, DiBiase did present his first $5,000 check to the court as a beginning to his restitution payments. A week after Brett’s arrest in February, his famous father Ted also found his Heart of David ministry under watchful eye for receiving more than $2.1 million in welfare from the state of Mississippi after Brett was hired as senior official of the MDHS. Brett was given a $95,000 salary at the time. It should be noted that Ted was never named on any of the indictments but the report was made by The Mississippi Clarion Ledger and The New York Post.
