Drew McIntyre Wants To Take It Slow With Sheamus

While many on-screen relationships on WWE TV are the stuff of TV magic, WWE Championship Drew McIntyre is legitimately friends with Sheamus. They both came up in the business on the same European indie scene and they both emerged in the same variant of WWE developmental. Those willing to dig into the archives will find many great matches between them on that indie scene, but only a few minor bouts in their WWE history.

However, the characters have been paired together on RAW outside of storylines, a rare showing of friendship between a “good guy” and a “bad guy.” In an interview with ViBe & Wrestling, Drew says that he likes the novelty of the situation. “…You’ve got us interacting with each other and you see that we’re obviously friends and the feedback I generally get is it feels natural this is how people talk in real life this is just real.”

Furthermore, Drew is in no rush to climb into the ring with the best man at his wedding. “I don’t think we need to jump into a match everyone keeps saying oh when’s rigging to turn around and I get ‘Brogue kicked’ why’d they have to ‘Brogue kick’ me right away?” Drew says that he can tag and interact with Sheamus even if he does the “nasty things” required of a WWE heel. “I don’t think we have to jump into a match to way down the line… and again 52 weeks of tv let’s not rush a story for once.”
