New Japan Pro Wrestling continued the G1 Climax on Friday. The show was the final night of competition for the A Block participants and it was a night of fireworks, to say the least.
Kota Ibushi made history as the first wrestler in the 30-year history of the G1 Climax to advance to the G1 Climax Finals three years in a row. Last year’s winner took the top spot by defeating Taichi, with his road to the finals sealed by Jay White’s loss to Tomohiro Ishii.

The most shocking moment of the night had nothing to do with the G1 Finals. Will Ospreay turned his back on the man that brought him not only into CHAOS, but NJPW itself, Kazuchika Okada. Ospreay defeated The Rainmaker with the help of his significant other, Bea Priestly, and former-Young Lion Tomoyuki Oka (now known as The Great-O-Kharn in RevPro). After the match, The Assassin delivered a brutal hidden blade, and said in backstage comments that he plans to form his own unit.
Shingo Takagi got a hard-fought win against NEVER Openweight Champion Minoru Suzuki, likely earning a rematch against The King. Suzuki won the title from Takagi at Summer Struggle in Jingu on Aug. 29th.
