Bobby Lashley spoke to Sports Illustrated about being United States Champion, his goals in wrestling, and how the Hurt Business is helping break stereotypes in wrestling.
Check out highlights below:
His thoughts on the Hurt Business’ image:
That’s another reason that I love being part of he Hurt Business. We’re not thugs, we’re dressed clean. We’re businessmen, Black businessmen. We’ve been in this business a long time, and that’s how we conduct ourselves. We have put in the work and we’re going to continue to do that.
What he hopes to teach his children through wrestling:
I want my kids to learn about grind. If you work your ass off, you’re get everything you want. That’s why, every morning before they’re up, I put my headphones on and listen to something motivational. I make my bed, then I go right outside and do jump rope and sprints for 30 minutes. When my kids are getting out of bed, that’s when they see me walk in full of sweat. I want them to see that you need to put in the work to get what you want.
On his goals and how long he’ll keep wrestling:
I am putting in the work to be world champion. Even if it takes years, I’ll stay in this business as long as it takes for me to get there.
