Dan Severn To Compete Under UWFi Rules, Co-Main Events Under Stephan Bonnar vs. Tom Lawlor

UFC legend and WWF veteran Dan Severn will once again compete in UWFi rules.

“The Beast,” who compiled a mixed martial arts record of 101-19-7, is booked to take part of Paradigm Pro Wrestling’s 2020 Fighting Spirit Heavyweight Grand Prix. The event will take place on Nov. 6 in Sellersburg, Indiana.

“As we continue the resurrection of UWFi Rules and Shoot Style Professional Wrestling, we wanted to bring in someone who had competed in the original UWFi,” Paradigm Pro Wrestling co-owner Gary Wilson said. “Dan Severn was our first choice, and we’re thrilled that he’s agreed to step back into the world of shoot wrestling,”

For those unfamiliar with the ruleset, UWFi used a hybrid of professional wrestling and MMA rules. There’s no pinfalls, instead bouts must be won via knockout, submission or on points. PPW resurrected the rules last year for the 2019 edition of the Fighting Spirit Heavyweight Grand Prix and has used it four additional times since then.

The card is main evented by a UWFi bout between UFC veterans Tom Lawlor and Stephan Bonnar. Per the promotion, “a total of 15 UWFi Rules bouts will be held at the event, which is being filmed for distribution on the IndependentWrestling.TV streaming service.”
