The Refocusing of Matthew Hardy, Kurt Angle Celebrates Seven Years Of Sobriety (WZ Roundup)

Matt Hardy continues to evolve in All Elite Wrestling. Now, it seems like he’s beginning a new chapter in that journey. In a video uploaded to his YouTube page, Hardy teased what’s coming next. “Anybody knows that I love pro wrestling, and with the exception of my kids and my wife, my family, there’s probably nothing else that I love more,” said Hardy. “It was important to me for my kid to see their dad do what he loves and AEW was going to afford me that opportunity. So this week on Dynamite, I am going to refocus my career to maximize it, make it as it can be for me, for my family and for AEW and its audience.”

“On Dynamite this week, you see Matthew Hardy,” said Hardy.

During a WWE SummerSlam 1992 Watch Party, CM Punk, Renee Young and Booker T discussed Big E’s new singles run and the importance of evolving throughout your career as a wrestler. “He needs to drop the [New Day] act a little bit,” said Booker T. “Some of the act, perhaps, he may want to keep, some of it he may want to get rid of. And that’s what the business is about, evolving, being able to change your level. You know, you just can’t walk through this business throughout a whole career and just be one guy.”

Punk had a more blunt approach. “You gotta realize, these people are on television once, twice, maybe three times a week, 52 weeks a year. You get stale real fast, you know? So I definitely think Big E, New Day, they’ve been rolling for like a while now. So I agree with the both of you, he’s gotta dump [Xavier] Woods and Kofi [Kingston,] kick those guys to the curb.”

Young didn’t want to see the New Day end so chaotically. “I’m all for this Big E singles run, but come on,” said Young.

Kurt Angle announced on Twitter that he’s celebrating seven years of sobriety. “To all of you who supported me and stood by me, through hood and bad, I want to thank you for not giving up on me,” wrote Angle.

Angle’s struggles with addiction have been well-documented. From everyone at Wrestlezone, congratulations!

During an appearance on Pardon My Take, The Big Show named the superstars he considers the toughest wrestlers in history. “There’s three guys that come to mind,” said the Big Show. “One is Undertaker, two is Kane, and the other one is John Cena. I’ve seen John Cena wrestle with a torn cornea. I’ve seen him, he had neck surgery in Pittsburgh at 11 a.m, at 5 p.m., he came by the arena to say hi to everyone and wish us a good night on RAW.”

“It’s another level that guys like that set the bar to,” said the Big Show.
