Top Guys out — Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder of The Revival are no longer with WWE as of this morning.
WWE issued the following statement, confirming both men have been granted their immediate releases from the company:
Effective today, Friday April 10, 2020, WWE and The Revival have agreed on their immediate release from WWE. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
The Revival had been paired up in the company since 2014 when they were known as “The Mechanics” in NXT. The team is the only Triple Crown Tag Team Winner in WWE history, winning the RAW, SmackDown and NXT Tag Team Championship during their tenure.
Despite the accolades, the team hasn’t been used much by WWE as they were pulled off of the road in early March and Wrestlezone later reported Dash and Dawson hadn’t been paid for four weeks at that point. The Revival hadn’t been on WWE TV since January 31, and last worked a match during a live event on March 1.
According to Fightful, The Revival have asked for their release several times in the past two years and have wanted to make an “amicable” split from WWE. Scott Dawson’s contract was originally set to expire in early April, with Dash Wilder’s set to expire in June due to time being added on due to his jaw injury.

Both men appeared to be setting the stage for their post-WWE careers, with Dash continuing to file trademarks for a variety of names and uses. In March, he trademarked the name “Cash Wheeler” for use in wrestling and on hats, shirts, and bandanas, in addition to the name of their finisher (Shatter Machine) and the terms “Top Guys” and “Say Yeah.”
Update: According to Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin, the team is free to work wherever they choose because they do not have a no-compete clause, and that’s why WWE’s statement including the phrase “immediate release.”
