Jerry Lawler Talks Traveling Amid Virus Outbreak: ‘Never Seen Anything Like This’

The outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus has taken the world by storm, with many countries shutting down non-essential operations to limit the spread. For WWE legend Jerry Lawler, however, he still must travel to get to WWE’s Orlando based shows, and speaking to Memphis’ Local 24 News, he’s never seen anything like this.

“I really don’t know what to think about this. I’ve been in the wrestling business for nearly 50 years and traveled and seen just about everything but I’ve never seen anything like this so far,” Lawler said when asked about the ongoing situation.

Lawler had to travel from Memphis to Orlando for WWE Monday Night RAW, and told Local 24 that he’s still trying to come to grips with how to handle the sudden stoppage of things.

“I think all you have to do is ask anyone who sat on a Sunday with no sports on TV. It was just unbelievable. I don’t know how many times I sat there looking at my TV and said, “oh my gosh, what is happening here,” Lawler said. “I think that it’s a good diversion. It gives people something to take their mind off with all this bad news.”

As the world continues to try and limit the spread of the virus, WWE continues to hold its shows, with many events taking place in the WWE Performance Center. As of now, WrestleMania 36 is also planned to take place there, with no crowd on hand to watch one of sports biggest nights.
