Speaking with Post Wrestling, ROH star Session Moth Martina talked about why she chose not to go with WWE and NXT UK despite spurring interest via a tryout. She said it was fun to be part of the first-ever all-female tryout for the company, but it was also important to weigh all her options.
I just didn’t really want to give up the amount of travel that I get to do at the moment and I have a lot of freedom as it is right now. I’ve been to Australia this year, America, Japan. I’m just not really ready to [give that up]. I’ve put a lot into my character over the last five years and I just felt like Ring of Honor was a better fit for my character and what I wanted to do with my character, and I just felt like it was gonna be a bit safer here. It just felt like a better fit.
Martina also chats about how NXT UK has affected the British independent scene. With the closure of several promotions, it’s hard not to notice the impact, but Martina has a positive outlook in the end.
As long as they’re happy with their exposure and everything like that, that’s all that matters and at the end of the day, time goes on and there’s always new people coming up to fill these gaps and after they go on to get signed, there will be more people coming up to fill those gaps and it’ll just keep going as it is and I think it’s a wheel and it won’t stop turning so I think it’s great for everybody.
