Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported today on the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that ‘British Bulldog‘ Davey Boy Smith is the next name to be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020. WWE has not officially confirmed the induction at this time.

Bulldog joins a very stacked class of honorees for this year’s WWE HOF which has confirmed Batista and the NWO. WrestleZone reported last week that the Bella Twins and Jushin Thunder Liger are also potentially getting the nod this year during WrestleMania week in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Smith has long been identified by many wrestling fans as one of the top wrestlers to come out of England. In the 80’s he broke out big as one of half of the British Bulldogs with Dynamite Kid, where they fought out Stampede Wrestling in western Canada before moving on to WWE and eventually became WWE Tag Team Champions. Bulldog on his own went on to a successful solo career with stints in AJPW, WCW, and WWE. Many fans fondly remember his main event performance at Wembley Stadium at Summerslam ’92 defeating his brother-in-law Bret ‘the Hitman’ Hart for the WWE Intercontinental Championship as his greatest night in the ring.

In a recent video update, we look into the favorable and not-so-favorable fan reactions to some possible inductees this year. Subscribe to WrestleZone on YouTube here.
