Tuesday’s episode of WWE SmackDown saw several changes made to the script by Vince McMahon.
Pwinsider.com gave some additional details as to what was changed from the original script. The main event on the original script was to feature WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Andrade.
Once WWE had their production meeting, the decision was made to change it and book Xavier Woods & Kingston teaming against Daniel Bryan and Rowan.
Just one hour before the show went live on the USA Network, it was decided to pull Kingston from the main event and replace him with Big E. These changes were made by McMahon.
Also, the original plan for SummerSlam was to have Roman Reigns wrestle Daniel Bryan. However, the word going around at the TV event was the match will likely be dropped in order to let the current storyline play out.
Thus, this is the reason that Bryan’s big career announcement that has been hyped for weeks has yet to happen and has now been dropped. That could change if WWE decides to work that back into a storyline. It should be noted that there was no mention of it backstage at the show.
The ending of SmackDown saw the revelation that Rowan was the person being the attacks on Reigns. According to the report, that isn’t 100% set in stone as other ideas have been pitched.
Reigns is slated to wrestle Bryan at several upcoming live events after SummerSlam.
