Seth Rollins Retains Universal Championship Against Baron Corbin At WWE Stomping Grounds

Seth Rollins retained the Universal Championship against Baron Corbin at Super ShowDown but the challenger wanted another shot at the champion. Corbin challenged Rollins to a match at Stomping Grounds. The former RAW General Manager selected his own special referee for the match and revealed that it was none other than Lacey Evans. Though Evans tried to screw Rollins out of the match, he retained the championship after pinning Corbin with a Curb Stomp.

Before the match, Evans looked on while Corbin hit Rollins with a steel chair. Corbin dominated the first several minutes of the match and smothered the champion’s every attempt to rally. Rollins dropped Corbin with a kick to the head and chopped the challenger’s chest several times. A Blockbuster and a clothesline gave Rollins all the momentum. Evans slowly counted the pin after Rollins hit a stiff superkick. Then, the champion powerbombed Corbin through an announce table. Evans refused to count Corbin out, which let Corbin get back into the ring. Rollins dropped Corbin with another superkick and hit a Frog Splash but Evans refused to complete the three count. Corbin hit Rollins with a chair repeatedly and Evans declared the match wouldn’t have any disqualifications.

Rollins hit a Falcon Arrow on a chair but Evans refused to count the pin. Evans slapped Rollins twice and hit him below the belt. Corbin immediately hit End of Days but Becky Lynch attacked Evans and suplexed her into the barricade. Other officials dragged Lynch away and a new referee entered the match. Rollins pinned Corbin after another superkick and a Curb Stomp.
