The Rock responded to the news on Twitter with the following:
This one means a lot. Box office revenues are cool, but the thing that really matters is the blessing to positively influence and impact generations along the way. We’re gonna rock the house and the mana (and tequila;) will flow this Saturday night!!

The ceremony will air on June 17 at 9 p.m. ET. Johnson will be returning to the MTV Awards for the first time since hosting alongside Kevin Hart back in 2016. Past Generation Award winners include Chris Pratt, The Fast & Furious Franchise, Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Jamie Fox, Johnny Depp, and more.
