Former-IWGP Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho appeared in a video message at the end of Saturday’s Wrestling Dontaku event in Fukuoka. The All Elite Wrestling star challenged IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada to a title match at June 9th’s Dominion event in Osaka.
Okada, giddy after defeating SANADA in the main event of Saturday’s show, accepted the challenge.
This match marks Chris Jericho’s first match in NJPW since signing with upstart promotion All Elite Wrestling. Jericho is set to face former-IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega at AEW Double Or Nothing on May 25th in Las Vegas, NV.
