We now know that Rey Mysterio will challenge Samoa Joe for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 35. However, it doesn’t seem as if that was always the plan. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that the initial idea was for Rey to go one on one with Andrade in a mask vs hair match. In addition to that, the decision to change their previously scheduled match at Fastlane came from Vince who wanted to see the duo on the main show, after they’d spent weeks battling one another in a series of great matches. Meltzer went on to speculate that WWE may not have wanted Andrade to lose his hair, which could be why the idea was canned.
