Tony Nese, the number one contender for Buddy Murphy‘s cruiserweight championship, was recently interviewed by Newsday. In the interview, Nese details why this match means so much to him. He grew up in Long Island, which is only about ten miles or so away from where Wrestlemania 35 will be taking place at MetLife Stadium.
“This is the culmination of everything that I’ve done,” Nese said in an interview Tuesday. “It couldn’t have come at a better time. As soon as it was announced over a year ago that WrestleMania was going to be here at Met Life, I kept telling myself that I’ve got to do whatever I can to get there.”
Performing at Wrestlemania 35 will be a far cry from the independent shows that Nese was wrestling on the last time WWE had a Wrestlemania at MetLife six years ago for Wrestlemania 29. Nese and Murphy have the potential to be the sleeper hit of the night, and according this interview Nese won’t settle for anything less.
