On the latest Jim Ross report, the soon to be former WWE commentator explained that WWE is under-utilizing the current SmackDown Live Women’s Champion. Ross thinks that WWE dropped the ball at WrestleMania 34, where Asuka suffered her first loss in WWE.
First, Ross set things straight, saying that the match between Asuka and Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 was a great match. That wasn’t the issue for Ross. His problem is that after that match, Asuka has had a tough time regaining that momentum.
Going further into the issues with WWE’s booking of Asuka, Ross said that Asuka could be a major star in the women’s division. Even though there are already standout stars in the women’s division, Ross thinks that there is room for another and Asuka could be it.
Currently, there is no match scheduled for the SmackDown Live Women’s Champion for WrestleMania 35. The most recent defense of the title came at WWE Fastlane, as Asuka defeated challenger Mandy Rose.
