Billy Gunn: I Would Turn Down WWE Hall of Fame If Chyna Wasn’t Inducted

Chris Van Vliet recently did a great interview with Billy Gunn about D-Generation X going into he WWE Hall of Fame. He talks about how he was inducted, if he wanted to go in with Road Dogg first, and Chyna being included.

When he found out he was being inducted:

I was in the middle of the ocean. We went on a cruise to the Bahamas. She had her phone on her, they had Wi-Fi in the middle of the ocean, and I didn’t have mine. Road Dogg’s wife and my wife are very close. She texted her going, “Brian need to talk to Billy ASAP.” That never really happens. We just talk every week to catch up. So, I’m a little worried. She finds me and says that Brian needs to connect with you. He texts me and goes, “Hey Billy, are you there?” I go, “Yes. I’m here. What’s up?” He goes, “They want to put us in the Hall of Fame.” I go, “Okay. See you later.” I was like, that’s what the urgency was? It was on a Sunday and they wanted to announce it Monday. I was the only one that hadn’t known yet.

On it not being the New Age Outlaws going in:

I don’t want to downplay what we’re doing. Yes, [I wanted to go in by ourselves first], but still going in as a group and to be noticed by everybody [is great].

On if it’s the only way Chyna will go in:

I think that’s wrong. Let’s all be happy and take it in that she’s going. This will open the door for her to go in by herself. I feel that there would’ve been a major league riot if they put everyone in DX in without her. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I’m not going in without her. We were that good of friends. I’ve had this discussion with my wife. Luckily, I won’t have to make that choice.
