Becky Lynch has become one of WWE’s hottest stars over the past several months. Her on-screen attitude and character has been compared to that of WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin on more than one occasion. However, SmackDown Live commentator Tom Phillips offers a different comparison.
Speaking to David LaGreca and Bully Ray on Busted Open Radio recently, Phillips was asked about Lynch being virtually unfazed by anything thrown her way. He responded by offering the comparison of UFC mega-star Conor McGregor, who he believes shares the same trait:

No, and it’s crazy because over the summer, how good she was and just destroying most of the SmackDown roster and then finally at SummerSlam – that’s what snaps. Somebody finally coming in and taking her opportunity. She was on fire there for months. I know everybody has been comparing her to Stone Cold (Steve Austin) and everything like that – and I’m going to make the comparison honestly to Conor McGregor, her fellow countryman, fellow Irishman, because McGregor has this uncanny ability – he’ll make predictions, he’ll talk a big game and everything, and even if he loses he comes out the next day like nothing happened.
And I think that’s the sign of somebody whose incredibly mentally strong. I think Becky Lynch has really adapted that attitude, is that she just doesn’t let things bother her. And even if they are, she’s never going to let you notice. Especially a person like Charlotte Flair, especially a person like Ronda Rousey, and even Stephanie McMahon. I mean, it’s Becky vs. The World right now. That’s amazing that, with all the pressure that’s on her on Sunday – let’s be very clear, if Becky doesn’t win Sunday, no WrestleMania.
All this dream for years, this everything that everyone has been talking about, Becky Lynch being in the main event of WrestleMania, women in the main event of WrestleMania – Becky’s part in that is gone. So the fact that she’s not letting that get out into the public and she’s just putting on a brave face is really astonishing.
