The co-main event of Wrestle Kingdom 13 delivered as expected. Chris Jericho put his Intercontinental Championship on the line. It got off to a devastating start as Naito attacked Jericho before his entrance was over, and then delivered a piledriver on the walkway to the ring. Both wrestlers took advantage of the No DQ stipulation, as both used a variety of weapons and foreign objects during the fantastic match.

Despite an early start by Naito, it quickly became Jericho’s match. He wound up doing a devastating DDT on a table and was able to take control for a good portion of the bout. However, Naito never lost the will to compete and managed to get back into the fight. The two went back and forth until an epic near-fall where Naito was able to DDT Jericho on to some chairs and managed to hit a codebreaker of his own. Naito finally put him away after hitting a Destino and hitting Jericho with the belt itself.
