The Briscoe Brothers To Defend The ROH Tag Titles, International Stars Compete In Atlanta

Bandido The Briscoe Brothers Ring Of Honor

Ring of Honor prepares to kick off the New Year with a big show in Atlanta, Ga. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Center Stage that will feature a number of international dream matches.

The first will have 10-time ROH World Tag Team Champions, The Briscoe Brothers, defending the titles against the team of Chuckie T and Baretta. Here’s more information for their upcoming match courtesy of ROHWrestling:

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS JAY AND MARK BRISCOE vs. BEST FRIENDS (BERETTA AND CHUCKIE T)

Jay and Mark Briscoe closed 2018 in typical Briscoes fashion. They captured the ROH World Tag Team Titles for a record 10th time in a Ladder War over The Young Bucks and SCU at Final Battle on Dec. 14, and the following night they took part in one of the darkest moments in ROH history, as they joined Bully Ray, Silas Young and Shane Taylor in ruining The Elite’s farewell. The party crashers brutally beat down The Elite as well as ROH World Champion Jay Lethal, Flip Gordon and Best Friends.

It’s clear the Briscoes are not only as good as they’ve ever been inside the ring, but they’re more dangerous and bloodthirsty than ever. Their demeanor is a stark contrast to that of the usually jovial Best Friends, but the Briscoes will likely see another side of Beretta and Chuckie T. when they meet in Atlanta with the gold on the line.

Despite their penchant for mid-match hugs and crowd-pleasing antics, Best Friends are one of the most talented tag teams in the sport and should never be taken lightly under any circumstances, but now they are as determined to exact revenge as they are to win the ROH World Tag Team Titles for the first time.

The Briscoes and Best Friends have faced each other before, and the last time they were in the ring together — in a three-way match in November that also involved Cody and Adam Page — it was Best Friends who were victorious.

Can Best Friends end the Briscoes’ reign of terror in Atlanta? Or will the Briscoes make Best Friends their latest victims?

The second match will feature a first-time ever match-up between two recent international signees, Bandido and Mark Haskins:

Big things are expected of Bandido and Haskins in ROH, but rather taking the more traditional approach of debuting them in individual “showcase matches,” ROH matchmakers wasted no time in having the two buzzworthy competitors clash.

Bandido was one of 2018’s breakout stars, as the 23-year-old sensation wowed audiences all around the globe. The fourth-generation luchador competed in the prestigious Battle of Los Angeles in September and made it all the way to the finals. Also that month, he participated in the six-man tag match that headlined the All In pay-per-view before more than 11,000 fans at the sold-out Sears Centre near Chicago.

Haskins, one of the top stars in the UK, made strong showings when he competed on ROH shows in the UK this year and last. The hard-hitting native of Oxford, England won the inaugural ROH International Cup this past August on the Honor Re-United UK Tour, and he went on to push ROH World Champion Jay Lethal to the limit in a match hailed as one of the best in ROH in 2018. Despite being just 30, Haskins has 12 years of experience and holds victories over some of the biggest names in the sport.

Both Bandido and Haskins are determined to begin their ROH careers on a winning note, but only one can do so. Will it be the high-flying Bandido or the tough-as-nails Haskins?

Tickets for the event are still available, which can be purchased at this link here.
