WWE Superstar and Total Divas star Natalya was a guest on The Wrap and was asked why the show didn’t change its name when the WWE stopped referring to female superstars as Divas.

Natalya responded:

“You know, I’m not sure actually. I’ve heard different rumblings. I’ve heard that Nikki Bella had talked about it openly and said she wanted to change the name: that we should go from Divas to something else. But, it’s tough because the way I look at it, we in WWE are not called Divas anymore – we’re called Superstars, but Total Divas is such a popular show that – Would the mainstream audience understand, if we changed the name. But, at the same time, I always think change is good and I think it could be a unique dynamic to take the fans on a journey where we do change the name. It just depends. The stars have to align and I also think the most important part is keeping the show authentic, keeping it real and true to what it’s always been and that really starts with the cast.”

Total Divas aired its season eight finale last week on E! The final episode focused on the passing of Natalya’s father Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. All seasons of Total Divas are available for streaming on Hulu. Total Bellas, a Total Divas spin off featuring The Bella Twins, is set to air its fourth season on E! beginning January 13, 2019.
