Sgt. Slaughter Praises WWE For Crown Jewel, Addresses His Retirement Status

TMZ Sports recently caught up with WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter, who commented on WWE’s controversial Saudi Arabian Crown Jewel pay-per-view. Slaughter was asked whether the WWE would have approached the Saudi Arabian situation in the same way while he was wrestling with the company. Slaughter replied, “Same way. We’re an entertainment company. We’re not anything to do with politics. We’re basically there to entertain everybody. Not just the American people, but people all around the world. That’s what we do for a living. That’s what makes our company so great.”

Slaughter was asked where he believes the WWE should go next to ‘break down barriers and walls’ and replied, “I’d say Mars. Mars: That’s probably our next destination. We’ll have WrestleMania 50 on Mars.” When asked, if he would wrestle at such an event, Slaughter replied, “I’m gonna be there, but I don’t know if I’ll be wrestling.”

Slaughter was also asked if he considers himself retired and replied, “No, I do not. Every once and awhile I get into the ring and if somebody says something bad about the Sarge or America or wants to pick a fight with the Sarge, I’ve always got my bag with me. Whether it be a singles match – I’d prefer a tag match – I’ve always got the boots with me. The Cobra Clutch is always ready and Slaughter Cannon is always loaded.”

Slaughter was also asked how often people come up to him and ask to be put in the Cobra Clutch and replied, “Every day. It happened three times on the way here. One of them was the driver and I said, ‘Let’s wait ’til we get to the event and then I’ll put you in the Cobra Clutch, so you can sleep a few hours.'”
