Natalya Pens Touching Tribute To Roman Reigns

RAW Superstar Natalya Neidhart took to the Calgary Sun in her usual weekly fashion. This time the former RAW Women’s Champion wrote about something very near and dear to her heart, Roman Reigns‘ battle with leukemia. According to Neidhart, the atmosphere backstage was tense although no one knew specifically what would happen that night on RAW, “The arena was freezing and tension was in the air.  The word backstage was that we couldn’t miss the opening of Raw, as news was going to be shared that would change the direction of the brand.  I wondered what it could be. What could possibly be such a big deal that we couldn’t miss?” Natalya describes what things were like after Reigns made the heart-wrenching announcement that he was taking a leave from professional wrestling due to his ongoing battle with leukemia, “Backstage, our world stood still. We all were watching the monitor and hugging one another, crying and in total disbelief.  To me, Roman Reigns was WWE’s version of Superman and he was our locker room leader on Raw. I thought back to how hard he worked to realize his dream to win the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar and it made me sad to think everything now needed to be put on hold for him to battle this horrible disease.” Reigns’ announcement had a profound impact on Natalya, “And a week later here I am, still thinking about what Roman said and what he is going through. I’m reminded that life is fragile and no one is guaranteed anything.  Roman reminded me that we can aspire to inspire others and lead by example. I thought about all of the children I’ve visited who were struggling with cancer who needed a hero and someone to remind them to keep fighting, dreaming and believing. Every single one of us needs hope.” Natalya goes on to describe the current state of the WWE locker room without its leader, “The WWE locker room will remain incomplete until its heart and soul – Roman Reigns – takes his place among us once again.
