WWE United States Championship – Kickoff Show
Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs Rusev
Rusev starts early with some corner punches, but Nakamura comes back with a kick to the back of the knee and applies a front facelock. Rusev fights back with some strikes and readies himself for a Machka Kick, but Nakamura ducks, only to get taken back down to the mat. Rusev gets up and runs right into a diving knee strike by Nakamura, then Rusev goes right back on offense and goes for the Accolade. Nakamura snaps Rusev’s head on the top rope and kicks him from the apron, then connects with a flying knee off of the turnbuckles and gets a two count. Rusev goes for Kinshasa but Rusev catches him with a drop toe hold, then applies the Accolade but Nakamura intentionally(?) headbutts Rusev in the crotch to avoid the hold, then hits Kinshasa for the win.
Winner – Shinsuke Nakamura
Hulk Hogan kicks off the main show by cutting a promo about being ‘here at Crown Jewel’ and asks what the world will do when Hulkamania runs wild.
WWE World Cup Tournament – First Round
Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton
Orton knees Mysterio, but Rey comes right back with a few kicks and a goes for a springboard splash. Orton dropkicks him right in the head for a two count, then sets up on the top turnbuckle and tries to rip Rey’s mask off. Rey shoves him back and connects with a seated senton and a DDT for two, then Rey kicks him in the head and sets up for a 619. Orton swings him around and connects with a hangman’s DDT, then Orton goes to strike again with a RKO but Rey surprises him with a rollup and steals the win.
Winner – Rey Mysterio
Orton gets right up and drops Rey with a RKO, then leaves the ring… only to come back and slam Rey stomach first on the commentary table.
