Johnny Gargano since signing with WWE has climbed his way to the main event scene of NXT. He’s main evented Takeover after Takeover and even has the distinction of being the only superstar to compete in three consecutive Takeover: Brooklyn specials. With every passing Takeover, he’s put on the most memorable matches and will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest superstars in NXT history.
It’s perhaps the fact that he wasn’t rushed to a main roster call-up that allowed him time to develop his character while also getting the NXT audience invested in him. Gargano’s success in NXT may not translate to a lot of gold but he is in every sense of the word, the heart and soul of the yellow brand.
