#5.) Proposing to Miss Elizabeth
It was the Summer of 1991 and Savage was a few months removed from his reunion with Elizabeth. On a July 6th episode of Superstars, Savage popped the big question to Elizabeth. The segment was incredible in more ways than one. They really stretched it out to build the tension and anticipation, with the crowd going absolutely wild when he slowly took out the ring and slowly went to one knee.
Elizabeth herself played it out, taking a few moments before finally exclaiming “Ohh Yeah!”, The Macho Man’s iconic catchphrase. Everything about the moment was perfect. The crowd’s reaction, Gene Okerlund standing in the middle unable to wipe the smile off his face, Elizabeth when the question was being popped and Macho Man’s surprised reaction when she accepted. Everything about the segment was done right.
