Was there ever any doubt who it was going to be? Daniel Bryan and The Miz’s story dates all the way back to the first rendition of NXT when it was still a game show, and Bryan was the rookie and The Miz was his mentor. Often viewed as an underdog, he was constantly pushed over by The Miz and it would only be a year later after his return that he would get his comeuppance, beating his mentor for the United States title.
It would be years later on SmackDown Live when Bryan was retired that their rivalry would be taken to a whole new level. The Miz’s famous worked-shoot promo on Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack went viral in an instant and their rivalry, even though non-existent, would re-emerge and develop a lot of interest.
Bryan would return to the ring over a year and a half later and their feud would pick up again some months after. When both of their careers are all said and done, they’re going to go down as each other’s greatest rivals.
