The Miz’s dynamic with John Cena is an extremely interesting one. It was primarily divided into three. His first feud post-break-up with John Morrison was against Cena. He was unsuccessful in two attempts. Then, he was the guy who was trying to branch out and make a name for himself against The Guy in WWE.
The second part culminated at WrestleMania 27, with The Miz being the WWE Champion who had everything to prove against the franchise player. Although he was successful in beating Cena in the main event, his win was overshadowed by the Rock-Cena dynamic that would culminate a year later.
The third part came in the form of mixed tag action at WrestleMania 33, where he and Maryse feuded with John Cena and Nikki Bella. The rivalry was deeply personal and the two couples constantly spat fire at each other. This time, The Miz was a far more developed and mature performer than the man he was six years prior. The evolution of the dynamic makes Cena one of Miz’s most interesting rivals.
