#3.) Broke the gender barrier in MMA
UFC President Dana White was once quoted saying that UFC will never have women fighting in their organization. After the purchase of Strikeforce, the first women’s division was made and Ronda Rousey was made the champion. She would headline UFC 157 against Liz Carmouche and finish her ten seconds before the first round.
This would mark a whole new era in the UFC and Women’s MMA and long before WWE did, UFC had their women headlining PPVs. With each fight, Rousey’s stock grew and she became among the top three PPV stars of the entire company. While many women like Shayna Baszler and Meisha Tate deserve credit for their contribution to women’s MMA, there’s no doubt that Rousey was at the forefront, taking it to a whole new level.
