#1.) John Cena vs CM Punk: Money In The Bank 2011
Many WWE fans consider CM Punk to be John Cena’s greatest rival. It’s hard to disagree given that their characters were the polar opposite. One was an anti-authority figure while John Cena was the company Golden Boy, the face they put on all the posters and the man who represented the brand.
With CM Punk’s Pipebomb in June 2011 elevating his popularity to a whole new level, the stakes were even higher when he revealed that his contract was (legitimately) expiring after Money In The Bank 2011. With Punk threatening to win the title and run away with it to other promotions and the big match taking place at his hometown of Chicago, things only started to get bigger and bigger.
What ensued in the match was nothing short of a classic, with the crowd being almost 100% behind Punk, who would capture the Championship in shocking fashion and run away from the arena right away. This was perhaps the peak of the Summer Of Punk in 2011.
