#1.) The Mexicools
Take what you will from it, but in retrospect, the fact that WWE took 3 incredible Cruiserweights in Psicosis, Juventud Guerrera and Super Crazy and gave them a stereotypical Mexican gimmick seems outrageous. In today’s environment, it simply wouldn’t happen without fan outrage, especially knowing their level of talent.
With that being said, the Mexicools actually managed to make their gimmick work and it resulted in entertaining television. They mocked the stereotypical Mexican lawn mowers and cut their first promo, declaring that they were unhappy with how “Gringos” treated Mexicans. They wanted the Americans to work for them instead and though that seems far fetched, the core message actually resonates.
Juventud would be released within six months due to backstage issues and Psicosis and Super Crazy would be together until their split in 2006, after which Psicosis was released due to legal trouble in Mexico.
