Daniel Bryan was red-hot in 2013 and there was absolutely no stopping him. It’s no surprise that John Cena handpicked him as his SummerSlam opponent to challenge for the WWE Championship. While there wasn’t much physicality in the build-up as it was a face vs face match, there was a war of words.
However, Daniel Bryan backed up all the talk when the day came, as he stepped up to the occasion and beat John Cena clean as a whistle with the running knees. Though his moment was short-lived due to Triple H’s heel turn and Randy Orton‘s MITB cash-in, it remains one of the all-time great SummerSlam World title matches.
