#2.) vs. Kurt Angle – Slammiversary XI
Many argue that their 2008 match was better, but we personally disagree. The story this time was less personal but had more to do with Styles’ new persona. Since he was a very lone wolf, mysterious kind of character (with a new theme song), he isolated himself from all his friends, including past tag team partner Kurt Angle.
With nobody able to reason with Styles, an irritated Kurt Angle got into a brawl with him, which prompted a match at Slammiversary. This time around, the match was more carefully paced and technical, with the two doing their best to top all their previous efforts. They managed to do so successfully and AJ Styles was defeated by a very narrow margin.
