5 Things You Didn’t Know About Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake

#4.) He never wanted to be The Barber

It’s hard to imagine Brutus Beefcake not being “The Barber”. At first, he was a tag team wrestler with Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, where the two were dubbed as the Dream Team. They would break up after WrestleMania III. In the same event, Roddy Piper defeated Adrian Adonis in a “hair vs hair” match.

It was then that Beefcake assisted Piper in cutting Adonis’ hair. This led to interest from Vince McMahon in a barber gimmick. It was actually based off of McMahon’s own personal celebrity hairstylist – Sal Fedora. Beefcake was not interested in the gimmick at all, believing it to be a big rib against him.

However, Hulk Hogan, who he would shadow throughout his career, convinced him that there was money in the gimmick, and it turned out to be one that defined his career.
