Goldberg’s 5 Greatest Matches

Goldberg was one of WCW’s true larger-than-life characters. During the period when The Monday Night Wars were at its hottest, WCW heavily relied on old WWF superstars such as Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash to draw the ratings, and though they did lead the Monday Night Wars for quite a while, there were few true WCW-grown stars that would reach such levels. Goldberg was one among three major stars who are considered homegrown WCW talent, along with Sting and Diamond Dallas Page.

But Goldberg had something very special about him. WCW knew in advance that Goldberg wasn’t exactly an in-ring technician. People wouldn’t pay to see him have long, technical classics, but it would be more of a “Mike Tyson” kind of approach, where people would pay money to see Goldberg squash superstars in no time.

And squash the roster is exactly what he did. He would embark on an epic undefeated streak, one that would only be surpassed 19 years later. He is the very definition of a WCW icon, and though his WWE tenures weren’t extensive, they did have their moments as well. We look at the very best of Goldberg’s matches.
