2. Toni Storm Becomes The First PROGRESS Women’s Champion
In May of 2017, Toni Storm became the first PROGRESS Women’s Champion by defeating Jinny and Laura Di Matteo in a triple threat match that was also the first time a women’s match ever was featured in the main event a PROGRESS Wrestling card.
Of course, WWE has a working relationship with PROGRESS Wrestling and this performance and the successful title defenses against competitors like NXT’s Candice LeRae likely went a long way in putting Toni Storm on the path to a successful WWE career.
