#3.) He was rejected for WWE Tough Enough
Austin Aries revealed that in 2010, he had auditioned for the fifth season of WWE’s Tough Enough. He didn’t make the cut and wasn’t too unhappy about it as he realized that it wasn’t WWE themselves directly rejecting him. Even so, he seemed to blur the lines between reality and fiction at this point as he used his rejection on Tough Enough to fuel a heel turn in the indies and enhance his character, though he admitted that he was legitimately considering retiring.
In retrospect, it’s a good thing that Aries didn’t get into Tough Enough. As we’ve seen, very few superstars from Tough Enough have seen major success and most of the winners of the show have only ended up having short stints with the company.
